AFFECT-T is an abbreviation in closing: Affectionately. Often used by the artist Marcel Duchamp in his correspondence with friends and fellow artists. The studio uses the term as a guide to the relationship with the client and a central aim of built space and objects- to design and construct something which is viewed and experienced affectionately.
The second meaning of the name is the root affect or the affects of an experience on an individual, most often conveyed through mood and sensation. Research into the sensorial qualities of space and how we make spaces that are both unique but have a lasting impression is the major avenue of design research in the studio. Through experience, craft, environment, form, and specificity we create spaces which are distinctly appropriate for the users, the brief, and the site. It is the studios belief that only through an understanding of the affects of architecture can we create those buildings and objects which are both distinct and lasting.
As a design firm we work on a range of scales and projects, always with an aim to of shaping space and experience. The multi-disciplinary nature of our work means we are able to design objects, furniture, installations, interiors, and buildings. We cater to a wide range of clients and briefs always with a concern for craft in the manner of making and the environment it is constructed in and how it will impact what surrounds. Our proposals are designed to last and have a lasting impact, they are individual and formally unique spaces with an attention to detail and the design process that makes the studio distinct in the field of architecture and design.

Damita joined AFFECT-T in 2010 after completing her Diploma in Architecture from the Architectural Association in London. She has contributed to numerous projects and guides the studio with her varied design background in fashion and architecture.
She briefly studied fashion at Central Saint Martins in London after directing a fashion boutique in Melbourne. Her passion for colour, radical form, and making is evident in the work of the studio and is the driving force behind the refinement and innovation of the built work.
As an architect she worked in Melbourne for the Demaine Partnership before moving to Denmark to finalise her undergraduate studies and to work for the Bjarke Ingles Group (BIG) in Copenhagen on a number of international projects. Her Bachelor’s degree is in Environmental Design and Architecture from Melbourne University. She also attained a degree from Institute of Architecture + Urban Studies in New York, before finalising her studies at the Architectural Association in London where she attained her Diploma in Architecture.
Damita has contributed writings for the online architectural journals and fashion blogs, and continues her collaborative enterprises in the fashion world while directing projects in Hong Kong and abroad.

AFFECT-T is involved in projects in the Australia, UK , and China ranging in scale from small built furniture to large multi-story buildings. The studio maintains a small staff so it can focus on select projects. This is keeping with the belief that a creative clarity and the highest degree of construction quality are only achieved through close control and involvement.
